Don’t forget, even though Lua is super small, it’s still a different language. For broadening your horizons it’s an interesting, if you have time, why not? IMO start with 1 language. Master it. Learn as much as you can from it. Then spread out to other languages if you think it will help round you off. Want to learn FP? Consider Haskell. What to learn scripting? Lua is a good option. But Lua itself provides no distinct advantage over any other Turing complete language.
