This code inside the static block is executed only once: the first time the class is loaded into memory. Mar 4, 2026 · In this tutorial, we’ll learn the concept of static block and instance initializer block. We’ll also check the differences and the execution order of the class constructors and initializer blocks. For the curious reader, the non-static block is actually copied by the Java compiler into every constructor the class has (source). So it is still the constructor's job to initialize fields. Note on the execution order: static block is always called first regardless of its position in the code.
