Web Reference: Nov 18, 2025 · User-defined table-valued functions (TVFs) return a table data type. For an inline table-valued function, there's no function body; the table is the result set of a single SELECT statement. Snowflake supports SQL UDFs that return a set of rows, consisting of 0, 1, or multiple rows, each of which has 1 or more columns. Such UDFs are called tabular UDFs, table UDFs, or, most frequently, UDTFs (user-defined table functions). A UDTF can be accessed in the FROM clause of a query. A table-valued function is a user-defined functionthat returns data of a table type. The return type of a table-valued function is a table, therefore, you can use the table-valued function just like you would use a table.
