Web Reference: Jan 27, 2001 · The following table lists the functions that Visual Basic provides in the Microsoft.VisualBasic.Strings class to search and manipulate strings. They can be regarded as Visual Basic intrinsic functions; that is, you do not have to call them as explicit members of a class, as the examples show. In VB.Net, you can use strings as array of characters, however, more common practice is to use the String keyword to declare a string variable. The string keyword is an alias for the System.String class. VB has numerous built-in functions for processing strings. Most VB string-handling functions return a string, although some return a number (such as the Len function, which returns the length of a string and functions like Instr and InstrRev, which return a character position within the string).
