Nov 5, 2025 · Palo Alto-based startup K-Scale Labs has laid off its staff and refunded deposits for its open-source humanoid robots after failing to secure enough funding to operate. I set out to build K-Scale with a very simple goal: to work as hard as possible on the single most ambitious thing I could think of, something which I felt would be of existential importance, at the most high-leverage inflection point in our species' history.
