It modifies the original StringBuilder, reduces its length by one, and returns the same object. The principal operations on a StringBuilder are the append and insert methods, which are overloaded so as to accept data of any type. Each effectively converts a given datum to a string and then appends or inserts the characters of that string to the string builder. StringBuilder is a read/write class for manipulating characters. You can create it from a String and use sb.toString () to obtain the resulting String. You can also use the StringBuilder class which is mutable. It has the method deleteCharAt(), along with many other mutator methods.
