Web Reference: Jul 23, 2025 · A Constraint Satisfaction Problem is a mathematical problem where the solution must meet a number of constraints. In CSP the objective is to assign values to variables such that all the constraints are satisfied. Variable-based models is an umbrella term that includes constraint satisfaction problems (CSPs), Markov networks, and Bayesian networks. CSPs represent the entities in a problem as a homogeneous collection of finite constraints over variables, which is solved by constraint satisfaction methods.
