It is initialized only once and is not destroyed when the function returns a value. static is a keyword in the C programming language. It can be used with variables and functions. What is a static variable? By default, variables are local to the scope in which they are defined. Static variables have a property of preserving their value even after they are out of their scope! By default, a C variable is classified as an auto storage type. A static variable is useful when you want to preserve a certain value between calls to different functions. Static variables are also used to store data that should be shared between multiple functions.
