Web Reference: Jul 25, 2018 · You cannont change an expired password in SQL Developer via SQL command. It is not supported in the JDBC stack. You need the OCI libraries for this. SQL developer has an option to reset and expired password via the OCI stack if it has been correctly installed. See my answer for full details. Nov 14, 2012 · You don’t have to update your password twice – that is, you just use the Reset option on the right-click, and we’ll change it in the database, AND update your connection details in one go. Right-click on the connection you just created and select ‘Reset Password’. The New Password windows will open and you can update your password and click OK when finished. You can close the SQL Developer application and use the new password in the GI Bill application.
