Lists are mutable, allowing modifications, while tuples are immutable. Round braces are used for many things in Python, but square brackets are used only for list-related things. E.g. when passing a list as an argument, it's just so much easier to spot that than when passing a tuple: my_func([e1, e2]) vs my_func((e1, e2)) A tuple is an assortment of data, separated by commas, which makes it similar to the Python list, but a tuple is fundamentally different in that a tuple is "immutable." This means that it cannot be changed, modified, or manipulated. A tuple is typically used specifically because of this property.
