Web Reference: Marcus Luttrell (born November 7, 1975) is a retired United States Navy SEAL who received the Navy Cross and Purple Heart for his actions in June 2005 against Taliban fighters during Operation Red Wings in which he was the lone survivor. Marcus Luttrell went on his first foreign mission to Iraq on 14 April 2003 when the US-led NATO forces invaded Iraq. He was part of SEAL Team 5 and their mission was to find and seize the Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMDs) belonging to the Iraqi military.
