Web Reference: A foreign function interface (FFI) is a mechanism by which a program written in one programming language can call interoperable routines or make use of services written or compiled in another one. Most foreign code exposes a C ABI, and Rust uses the platform’s C calling convention by default when calling foreign functions. Some foreign functions, most notably the Windows API, use other calling conventions. Mixing different programming languages has long been something I don't quite understand.
