I have been reading some really interesting things about the recording secrets of that album, specifically Buckingham's Guitar tone and approach. Recorded with the intention of making "a pop album" that would expand on the commercial success of the 1975 album Fleetwood Mac, Rumours contains a mix of electric and acoustic instrumentation, accented rhythms, guitars, and keyboards, with lyrics concerning personal and often troubled relationships. The chorus sound on Rhiannon is pretty subtle - it may be a studio effect as he usually played that song with a dry sound live. I don't believe he used a tonne of effects live.
